About Me

Hi There!

I’m Rebecca. I created Mommy Faux Pas to give myself an outlet for writing.

I’ve got two young kids, a 2.5 year old and 12 month old. We get messy a lot cooking, baking, creating, tinkering and getting outdoors. I strive to be a free-range parent and provide my kids with plenty of opportunities for open-ended exploratory play experiences. A lot of these experiences are art and sensory based but also experiences exploring in nature.

We live in the Woodlands, TX, which is just outside Houston. It’s super forested here so we love checking out all the parks and nature preserves. We partake in cool meet ups with groups like Hike it Baby and Free Forest School when we can. But I try not to over-schedule us.

I just launched a small business offering Process Art experiences to young kids so you’ll see some of that here too. I have an undergrad degree in art and a masters in early childhood education.

I love yoga and I strive to step away from my cell phone and live in the present moment as much as I can- being a more intentional, mindful mom. Sometimes I succeed at this and sometimes I fail epically- it’s a journey towards becoming…

I believe that happenss is found in our everyday moments. There’s a great quote which sums this up- “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” —Robert Brault.

So this is me, pondering the little things and the big things and living life. I’m no expert, this is just my space to mull things over and write from the heart about what’s on my mind.

It’s all a journey and this ones mine…I hope my journey in some way inspires yours.

Thanks for reading.
